Misty is a Registered Nurse and IBCLC and has worked with parents and babies for over twenty years. Misty spent her first years as a Neonatal Nurse and in Labor and Delivery. Her time spent in the first part of her career acknowledged the importance of breastmilk for all newborns and brought the challenges parents can face with breastfeeding to light. After moving to Maryland from Tennessee, Misty wanted to have a flexible schedule for her children and that is when she focused on the pediatric home visit setting. Misty has two daughters who are the reason she is an IBCLC. Becoming a new mom without family support with breastfeeding, Misty learned the value of a lactation consultant beyond the hospital walls. With these experiences, she made it her passion for new moms to have access to lactation support and guidance after discharge. Her goal is to continually support new parents in their feeding plan and to make them as successful in feeding their baby as possible.
